A History Set in Stone

B. V. Hedrick Gravel & Sand Company launched operations in 1924 with an open pit alluvial deposit in Lilesville, NC. Since then, we’ve grown to include gravel, crushed stone and sand mines in North and South Carolina, all while remaining a family-owned company. Our products have helped create the infrastructure of North Carolina and surrounding states. We’ve provided top-quality materials for roads, railroads, airports, power plants, dams, high rises, shopping centers, bridges, docks, military installations and more.

However, we are more than just a business. Community involvement and environmental stewardship are as important to us as price and product. We’ve received numerous recognitions for our community relations and environmental programs, including the NSSGA’s Community Gold Award and Environment Gold Eagle Award and the Governor’s Conservation Achievement Award as Conservationist of the Year. We also have earned the NC Mining Commission’s Stewardship Award for public outreach and community relations and the North Carolina Mining Stewardship Award.
