Four-Mile Course Description

The trail begins at the Picnic Shelter at base of the quarry. A flat beginning, the first mile follows gravel haul road, past beaver ponds, and through wooded trail. The wooded section is about ½ mile uphill with a creek crossing.  Participants come out onto the haul road and turn right for a one mile stretch that is straight uphill to the top edge of the quarry to a panoramic view of the Swannanoa Valley and Black Mountain range.  The trail narrows and descends down the forested mountainside.  Participants pass by horse pastureland of neighboring Camp Rockmont and finish at the Picnic Shelter.
