Educating Our Communities

“Education is not just about going to school and getting a degree. It’s about widening your knowledge and absorbing the truth about life.” Shakuntala Devi
Hedrick Industries is proud of the work that we do. As such, we look for opportunities to share the work that we do with the communities around us in the form of site visits and field trips. These are great educational opportunities for the community at large and the youth of our communities. We had nearly 1000 field trip visitors to our Grove Stone Quarry in 2018.
Camp Tekoa is a community partner to our Green River Quarry in Henderson County. Camp Tekoa is summer camp that also offers holiday break and after school care. As part of their LGO Program (Let’s Go Outside), the camp decided to have a construction-themed week over Spring Break. On March 20th the campers arrived at Green River Quarry and enjoyed a day playing in the dirt, learning about geology, discovering interesting rocks and learning about heavy equipment that we use daily for aggregate production.
We would like to thank Camp Tekoa for being a great neighbor and helping us be a part in educating the youth of our community. If you have a similar camp or class that would like to be a part one of our educational programs, please contact Jason Conner at email@example.com.
