15th Annual Trail Challenge 5k + Kids Fun Run

Located in the heart of the Swannanoa Valley, Rock the Quarry Trail Challenge 5K is a run with a mission to bring the community together to celebrate good health and the beautiful Western North Carolina environment. All proceeds from the event benefit Grove Stone’s neighbor, the Black Mountain Home for Children, and long-time partner, the Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS).

Kids Fun Run – 9:15am

5K Start – 9:30am

PACKET PICK-UP

Packet pick-up will be the morning of the race from 8:00am – until the race start at the Black Mountain Home’s pavilion. Be sure to arrive early so you won’t be rushed! The Kids Fun Run doesn’t require a bib and the kids will receive their headband at the finish line.

Guaranteed Shirt Size Deadline – August 31st, 2023

* Although the guaranteed shirt deadline has passed, we ordered 150 extra shirts and if your size is offered during the registration process, you’re good!

Prizes:

Awards ceremony will happen at approximately 10:30am

Prizes for the event will be broken down into Men’s and Women’s Categories. Prizes for Overall Winners: 1st place receiving $100 & Mtn Running Hat, 2nd place receiving $50 & Mtn Running Hat, and 3rd receiving a $25 gift card to Mountain Running & Mtn Running Hat. Masters Division (40 and over) – 1st place only – $25 gift card to Mountain Running & a RTQ Hat.

Age Groups: 14 & under, 15 – 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 & Over. No double dipping!

All top runners in each age groups will win a Rock the Quarry hat.

COURSE MAP:

We have a new course this year that starts at the Black Mountain Home for Children. The course is relatively flat with a couple small hills.  Runners will run on grass and gravel road. It’s going to be a fast course!
