Posted on February 25th, 2020
This past Saturday Grove Stone and Sand was lucky enough to host the Swannanoa Valley Museum Explorer Hikers. The occasion featured a 3.5-mile hike where the group (along with 2 Grove Stone representatives) got to explore areas of the property that people rarely see. Fields for our Future Project
Posted on November 26th, 2019
Hedrick Industries recently partnered with Charlotte Knights Charities to contribute material for a softball field renovation. Charlotte Knight’s Charities is the philanthropic base of the Charlotte Knights triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. On Monday November 4th, the grounds crew for the Charlotte Knights did a one-day renovation to the field that included a refinished infield, fence toppers, baselines, painting and more to spruce up the girls’ softball fields. The Hedrick Foundation contributed $1,200 towards 100 tons of Infield Mix used to refinish the infields. We are so proud to be part of this project which ensures that this field will continue to be used by the Mint Hill Athletic Association for years to come. Below is a link to a video about the project and the organizations that came together to make it happen.

What started with only a few neighbors in 1989 has become an annual fall event with this year being our 30th anniversary meeting with residents in our local community. We had a great turnout with around 15 neighbors of the quarry attending. Many items were discussed concerning future pit development, blasting procedures, and our yearly race events. As always the meeting was followed by a tour of the quarry. Below are some photos from the meeting.
Rock the Quarry: Another Success

Black Mountain Home thrift store/café grand opening
We are so proud to be community partners and neighbors with the Black Mountain Home for Children who recently opened a thrift store/café and auto shop. This was made possible in large part through donations made by The Hedrick Foundation and Rock the Quarry. This year through Rock the Quarry alone, we were able to raise over $36,500 for the home.
Through the help of the over 225 5K finishers Rock the Quarry was also able to raise over $26,500 for AMOS (the Asheville Museum of Science) adding up to a grand total of $63,190.49. Hedrick Industries could not be more proud and thankful to everyone that helped make this year’s Rock the Quarry another hugely successful event.
